Main Atrium

The Catholic Relief Services New World Headquarters is a 153,000 square foot facility located in the historic former Stewarts Department Store building. Features of the project include an open-space design of the workspaces, specialized training, assembly, exercise, chapel and dining spaces, and state-of-art audio/visual, IT, video production, telecommunication and video conferencing systems. A four-story atrium adds light to interior offices and meetings rooms and facilitates staff communication. International artwork is displayed throughout.

The project is being proposed for a LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Counsel and was selected for a 2007 AIA Baltimore Design Award and a 2007 AGC Washington Contractor Award.

Synthesis provided project management services from preliminary cost estimating through architect selection, space programming, visioning of the building, schematic design, construction documents, construction manager selection, permitting, construction, and post-construction phases of the Project, considering CRS’s program objectives, schedule and budget.

Subsequently, Synthesis provided project management services for a 7,700 square foot interior fit-out of the previously unoccupied second floor of the same building.
